Jazz veteran saxophonist Lew DelGatto leads a sizzling "bop and beyond" quartet on Saturday nights at Alto Live Jazz Kitchen in Naples, FL. DelGatto spent over 25 years on NBC-TV's "Sarurday Night Live."
Rounding out the quartet are pianist Joe Delaney from Cape Cod, bassist Don Mopsick from New Jersey and drummer Patricia Dean from the Tampa Bay area. The group performs a mix of classic American Songbook standards and jazz tunes as interpreted by such bandleaders as Miles, Davis, Art Blakey, Benny Golson, Horace Silver, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and many more.
Alto is a new restaurant by Chef Charles Mereday, opened in Naples at Bayfront in February 2014. Described as "Live, Jazz, Kitchen," ALTO is a classic supper club of the thirties and forties, with live, original musicians of local, national and international recognition. Mereday also owns Mereday's Fine Dining at the Naples Bay Resort, an acclaimed restaurant recently named best new restaurant in Collier County by Gulfshore Life magazine. The inspiration for Alto is Zanzibar Blue, a now-closed Philadelphia landmark with upscale dining and live music. The location in Bayfront was the first Mereday had considered before moving to Naples with Mereday's Fine Dining. When it became available again, he jumped at the chance....
